Mehuron's History

In 1941 Mehuron's Market began under the direction of Elmer Mehuron.  As a Vermont country store on Bridge Street in Waitsfield, Mehuron's was a center of local commerce.

The little market served many purposes, from a place to buy meats & groceries to having your animal slaughtered & a place to get your ammunition.  Just your traditional country store, we carried a little bit of everything.

We moved to our present location in 1968 under the ownership of Elmer's son, Allen Mehuron.

Tom Mehuron, the son of Allen, took over the family business in 1986.  He expanded the store to its present size in 1989. Tom's step-son Bruce Hyde Jr. purchased the business in 2021.

Tom and Bruce focus on bringing the highest quality food & old fashioned service to the Mad River Valley.

The Mehuron's Difference

How we do things differently.

As a truly independent market we are able to provide a mix of products that reflect the wants and needs of the local community. Bringing the world of fine food and drink to the Mad River Valley is our life's passion.

We have a $15 minimum wage, health care and retirement plans for our employees. They are our family and their success is our success.

We have multi-generational relationships with our local farms. Sustaining the farm to table ecosystem in the MRV is our focus.

We're your neighbors. If you ever are looking for a hard to find item or need assistance in any way, just ask.
